On-device AI apps for transcription, speech and video

Lokal uses on-device processing for tasks such as speech recognition, text recognition and summaries. Referat records meetings and produces notes, Oplæs reads text aloud, and Undertekst adds captions without uploading your video.

Choose an audio or video workflow

Referat is for recording a meeting and getting notes with who said what. Oplæs is for listening to PDFs, articles and books. Undertekst is for putting captions on videos. These tools address different tasks; one does not replace the others.

Local processing does not mean every feature is offline

Models may be included in an app, supplied by the operating system or downloaded before use. Network access may still be needed for a model download, sharing, or retrieving online content. Check each app’s requirements and try your intended workflow in airplane mode after setup.

Questions and answers

Are videos uploaded to generate captions?

Undertekst adds subtitles without uploading the video. The processing takes place on your device.

Does on-device AI need a cloud account?

Lokal apps do not require a Lokal account. AI processing runs on the device rather than sending your recordings or documents to a processing server.
